Noob Town Plus, First Draft is done!
Noob Town Plus, the first draft is done.
It's a dry tale about Jim traveling the world to get back to Windfall. I should probably add in a few jokes. It currently sits at 115k words, but I'll add in several thousand words during the editing process as I wonder what Past Ryan was thinking (that man is crazy).
Wrote it in Scriverly, which was nice but I'm not sure I'm going to use it again. It made organizing the book far easier, but I was used to writing it differently and I think that might have slightly changed the tone of the book.
My alpha readers like the plot progression and don't see any glaring problems with the book, so that's a plus. (Looking back at you Castle). Overall, I think this one is going to be a winner, but its still a long way from done.
That's pretty quick! It feels like I was just reading book four and now five is already on its way. All hail Noobtown!
ReplyDeleteStill chewing on the second draft but I'm getting more confident I'll have it out by Christmas.
DeleteJust finished the 4th book. Great ending, I was afraid the pages would run out before my two biggest worries were addressed. My heart could not have taken that so I am happy with how this book left it. Looking forward to the next.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm still getting book 5 just the way I want it, but its looking pretty sharp now.
DeleteMany thanks for keeping us updated somewhere that's not Facebook!
ReplyDeleteJust finished the audiobook of book 4,so the ritual of hoping the delay until the next one isn't too large begins.
Having followed a lot of litrpg series the last few years, Noob Town really does stand out in terms of quality and consistency (although to be fair to them, the guys trying to push 3-4 books a year to make a living have different quality control problems).
Your series just feels like it earns its emotional journey more thoroughly, so the payoffs and jeopardy are more satisfying.
Thanks for the entertainment and keep up the great work.
I could not agree more! In my eyes, when it comes to LitRPG, Noobtown stands in a very small category of GOOD LitRPG books.
DeleteUnfortunatelly, a large majority either have severe issues with characters building, script, level of writing, or all of those (not even speaking about the words missngs, mistakes and others).
I must say I can't wait to read the next, but honestly, I'm happy that the author takes the time to make sure the work is well made.
I agree as well. Noobtown is definitely my new favorite series. The humor takes it to another level. Can’t wait for the next one. Not sure about the departure from pure first person but if it’s as awesome as the other books I’m certain it’ll be great too.
DeleteThanks. I try. Hopefully I can keep up the quality in book 5, but so far my Alpha readers have loved it.
DeleteI am a big fan of Noob Town listing since I found the first book on Audible. Before the release of the second book.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the first LitRPG books I found on audible. At the time I didn't know how great this one was over so many others.
Do you have a Discord?
I would love to discuss the mechanics more with other readers.
No on the discord, yet. I'm slowly coming around to a Pateron and that was one of the suggested rewards so I'd say its going to happen sooner rather than later.
