Status of Book 3

Book Three is in the works, but things are progressing more slowly than I would like.  I found a significant issue with the plot early in the book which is requiring a massive amount of rewrites.  The book is long enough to release now, but I'm of the mind that quality takes time but mediocrity lasts forever.

So I'm fixing it, and it's going to get done when it gets done. Hopefully, that won't be too terribly long, however. December is still possible... but I'm not confident in that.  In any case, I will release the book when I'm satisfied with the quality of the plot and humor.  Nothing less than the highest quality fart jokes will be tolerated.

I can tell you it involves a castle, Grebthar day, and of an angry shoulder-mounted demon.

  1. Ryan, keep up the great work! I was already on the lit RPG train, but the humor of this series, in my experience, has so far topped it all. Since I spent more time with audio, as I'm typically meth-level busy, I had the pleasure to listen to book 1 and 2 on audible. Please don't lose your narrator, he absolutely nails Jim and Shart, at least for me. There are way to many times that books have a narrator who is either painfully bland, or has such terrible pronunciation, that I am made to wonder how they ever managed to blindly stumble into such a profession. Back on topic, I spent a week, looking like stabbing in-que, with the number of times I randomly burst into anything ranging from chuckles to hysterical laughter. Put simply, I approve. Eagerly awaiting book 3.

  4. I've gone through ~80 audio books this year and Noobtown competes with series like Arcane Ascension and Wraith's Haunt. If you release a half-ass book I'll relegate you to the same folder as Nightlord.

    Don't be a Nightlord.

  5. Hi Ryan! Thank you for your Noobtown series! The audiobook versions are an absolute delight and you've made me laugh many many times on the way to and from work (Shart is ♥). I know writing is hard, so thank you for expending the effort. I can't wait for book 3!!!

  10. Loved the series so far, very refreshing to see an mc that isnt either locked in a single class, or punished for any flexibility, but also isnt op, everyone seems to either have an op mc, or not a very flexible class system. Granted, no game really has a flexible class system, you can be whatever you want maybe, but you will be punished if its not focused, unlike the pure genius that you have managed to build IMO, take your time and keep kicking ass, appreciate the hard work.

  13. Hi Ryan, I am currently working my way through book 2 on audiobook, Fecking Pumas, and thoroughly enjoying it. JM is a great narrator, so dry. The humor of your series and the fact that the writing style doesn't take itself too seriously has been great. I hope the writing is progressing well on book 3 and your enjoying thr process. I honestly wonder where you get all the one liners and snarky jokes from : ) Keep it coming!

  16. Finished book 1 yesterday and instantly purchased/started book 2.
Loving the story and really appreciate the lack of harem which is a blight on the Litrpg scene (in my personal opinion). Glad to hear book 3 is in the works and happy to wait as long as it takes 👍

  22. I was hesitant to give this series a try but I am so glad that I did. These books have some great humor and Jim's relationship with his "companions" is the best. I am just starting book 3 but I am already excited to know when book 4 is coming out. Ummm... there will be a book 4 right? Kingdom of the Noobs? Army of the Noobs? Oh Oh... Invasion of the Noobs.
