First Post

Well, this is going to my official writing blog as the author of the Mayor of Noobtown.  I'm currently working on the second book Village of Noobtown which I'm hoping to have written by the end of April.  Then it will need to be edited which given my writing style takes about as long as writing it did.

For the curious, I'm doing fewer character sheets.  Less long winded skill descriptions.  But I'm still keeping in Jim's though processes about how and why he does things.   I'm still tweaking dialogue so the snark is in full effect.   I'm also trying to expand word count but I'm not sure by how much yet.
Mayor of Noobtown was 82k words, less if you don't like menus.  Village is aiming towards 90k with a smaller number of words invested into character sheets.

Also I can update the manuscript for Mayor, so if you do find errors please feel free to email me at ryan.rimmel@gmail.com and I'll go fix them.  I have an updated manuscript with some of the corrections already done but I want to wait a bit longer before I post it as I updated Mayor 3-5 times in a few days after release.  First book.

So to recap, Village is progressing.  I don't know when it will be published but I have a date in mind that's not too far out.

  1. Really enjoyed your first book, and very much looking forward to your sequel! As for fixes, the recurring one that I remember after the fact was that almost nowhere in the book should have used 'site' but it's lots of places where you should have used 'sight'.

  3. This page was hard to find. I'm going to link it to your author page on GR, but really looking forward to book 2.

  4. Loved it as a first book & looking forward to the next entry!

Also glad it didn't include a harem. Haven't seen many harem stories where the harem was an enhancement, so those are much more difficult for me to get through.

  5. Hi
Your first and seconf books were far above other ones in this range. I can't wait for the 3rd. Review given on goodreads.

  6. Well, I don't read this as often as I should. So sorry its been awhile. I am currently working on Book 3, 56k words and going slow this time. I'm currently chugging away at it. I'm working to more of an outline this time and its slow going as I figure this one is going to be much lengthier than the last one.

The tentative title is "Castle of the Noobs" so the plot involves a castle.
